What’s Your Excuse? – A Motivational Story

He was born different.

I never met this guy but I am inspired by the wisdom, hard work and the story of his life.

He was born without arms and legs affected by a rare disorder tetra-amelia syndrome. He faced bullying during his school life.

Frustrated from his life, suffered from overwhelming feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem tried to attempt suicide at the age of 10.

Luckily, his life gave him a second chance. Slowly and steadily he started to change his mental attitude towards life, faced his worst fears, fought with the challenges of low self-esteem and inferiority complex.

He graduated at the age of 21 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. After discovering his unique talent and strengths he was no more a physically disabled person.

Let’s see what he is now.

This is Nick Vujicic a Motivational Speaker, New York Times best-selling author, Entrepreneur, a swimmer, a skydiver, and a painter.

Nick was born in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia without arms and legs. He has only two small feet, one of which had two toes. He has two siblings named as Michelle and Aaron.

He was unable to attend a mainstream school due to Victoria State laws. But when the laws changed he was the first physically disable student to enroll in a mainstream school. And you know better what our society plans for special persons?

Same happened with Nick also. He faced bullying on a regular basis and as a reacted person he was affected by the severe depression.

10 Worth Reading Quotations of Nick

  • If I fail I try again, and again, and again. If You fail, are you going to try again? The human spirit can handle much worse than we realize. It matters How you are going to Finish. Are you going to finish strong?

  • We easily become trapped in the someday mentality. Someday I will have all the money I need to enjoy life. Someday I will be able to spend more time with my family. Someday I will have time to relax and do what I love doing.

  • I may have absolutely no control over what happens to us, but we can control how we respond. If we choose the right attitude, we can rise above whatever challenges we face.

  • To wish for change will change nothing. To make the decision to take action right now will change everything!

  • The greatest rewards come when you give of yourself. It’s about bettering the lives of others, being part of something bigger than yourself, and making a positive difference.

  • You are awesome the way you are.

  • Life is not about having, it’s about being. You could surround yourself with all that money can buy, and you would still be as miserable as a human can be. I know people with perfect bodies who don’t have half the happiness I have found. On my journeys, I have seen more joy in the slums of Mumbai and the orphanages of Africa and then in wealthy gated communities and on a sprawling estate worth million.

  • What really matters are the lives you touch along the way and how you finish your journey.

  • There are things in you can’t control and got to live with.

  • If you can’t get a miracle, become one.
